pretty in pink...
here we are...almost half way through the month of october...i don't know where the time is going...and of course...since the first...i've been meaning to do a post on october being national breast cancer awareness month...
wanted to share a few brands that are helping in contributing funds through their sales...to benefit organizations that are searching for a cure...
exclusively at saks: elie tahari "key to the cure" tee for $35...see pic below with the lovely jennifer hudson...a soft cotton tee with a key-filled heart...and "where there's love, there's life" printed on the front...the best part...100% of the sales of this tee go directly to breast cancer research...

and we have ralph lauren...where a portion of the proceeds from the sale of all pink pony products supports worldwide initiatives for cancer care and prevention...
if you have some favorite brands that have specific items picked out for national breast cancer month...please feel free to add them to the comments...
and most importantly...be sure to get your regular exam done ladies... =)

what about you? are you loving the flatform?

jimmy choo & cheese cookies...
last week i attended a lovely soiree at saks fifth avenue..."wine, women and shoes" the event title alone got my attention...the event was to feature the new choo 24:7 collection by jimmy choo...
this was no ordinary shopping experience...
first...and foremost...some of the proceeds of the sale were going to benefit children of shelters...
second...i would be surrounded by lovely shoes...
third... i would discover the fine art of wine and shoe pairing with the “shoemmeliers” from wine, women & shoes...
sounds like a win win win...no?
so...did i learn how the sauvignon blanc is paired with jimmy choo sling-backs? or why pinot gris is the perfect match for jimmy choo patent platforms? uh...no...not really...i was in utter awe of the shoes...
here are the clever little "cheese" cookies that made me swoon...

i met chad and john...their primary job was to walk around the room holding up silver trays of beautiful jimmy choo's...yes...i cannot tell a lie...

a charity event is not complete without a raffle or some sort of give-away...so there was this little bowl of keys...$20 got you one key...and of course...the proceeds go to charity...win win! there was one key...that would unlock the box...to...your very own pair of jimmy choo's...

i scoped the room...finding my two favorite pairs...here they are in all their glory...

and...

but...alas...my key did not work...and i left empty handed...with only thoughts of my two favorite jimmy choo's...and a tummy full of "cheese" cookies...
and a fun nite...meeting some lovely "jimmy choo loving women"

guest post: fashion for all ages...
visit her over at "www.elementsofimage.com"
Just within the last week, I’ve heard the comment, “I’m not a teenager anymore, but I don’t want to dress like my grandmother, either–I can’t find any clothes,” several times. I can understand how women, between the ages of 23 and 97, don’t think there’s anything out there for them, but really you have the largest number of chic, wardrobe options.
Here are a few tips to follow for finding stylish clothing that feels appropriate for your age and image.
• Extremes in styles tend to be the trendiest. You may feel more comfortable in classic styles in modern shapes.
• If you prefer to look a touch trendy, choose one trendy piece to be the star of the outfit, and then the rest of the garments should be more basic, supporting the star.
• Fit is more important than ever. No matter what your body type or size, it’s important to show your shape. Covering everything up from head to toes in baggy clothing only makes you look larger than you are, and ultimately matronly. And that’s not a flattering description even if you’re 97!
• Steer clear of juvenile prints. If you’re looking for whimsy, do it with accessories and color.
• Avoid old fashioned, “grandmotherly” florals.
• Go for quality, luxurious fabrics in modern or even trendy styles.
• Keep current—go through your closet regularly scouting for clothing that may be outdated. Nothing will age you faster than wearing clothes from a past decade.
Where to shop? Almost anywhere, avoiding the Junior department and departments clearly for elderly women. Here in Denver, I’m partial to J.Crew, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Garbarini, and Moxie.
