put together: in sheer feminine glory...

a big trend this season is wearing sheer garments...and believe me...i've seen some winners...and then some questionable ones...going sheer doesn't mean you need to show all your goods ladies...let's leave something to the imagination...right?

stylelist did a great piece "the trend report:  sheer is here!" be sure to click on the link to see some great examples of wearing sheer this summer...of all of them...this really got my attention...how chic is this outfit?  it screams feminine...lady like...and just 100% put together...

is this a look you would try?  how do you wear sheer pieces?

put together: in a mash-up sort of way...

as i had mentioned last month...one of the big fall trends is a "texture mash-up"...basically a blend of textures and patterns in one single outfit...here is a wonderful example of just that...the caption reads:

"fall is all about mixing textures and patterns in a single outfit - plaids, stripes, tweeds, you name it.  you won't look like you dressed in the dark if you find one similar tone, like the orange in the pants and scarf, to tie it together"

looks so put together for a nice fall day...what do you think?  is it something you would try?

put together: in a casual sort of way...

i will often say..."let's dress for the occasion..even if the occasion is__________" (insert day of the week)...
casual does not need to be drab...void of style and fit...drab jeans and t-shirts...when it comes to weekend style...or just a casual day running errands...why is it that so many women opt out?

ladies...you can be comfortable in clothes that are not just jeans + a t-shirt...i am forever pulling fabulous pics of great casual outfits...like this one below...for example...simple pair of pants or jeans...with a fabulous sweater...add a great flat...and a nice accessory...and you are set...but more importantly...you look put together...after all...you never know who you might be bumping into...a client...a prospect...a future date...maybe even an ex...don't you want to look fabulous?

if you start putting outfits like this together...it will be a breeze to get ready in the morning...with little thought...but a great end result...

put together: a subdued mix...

want a casual but chic way to meet up with some friends...or even a client?  perhaps you are just running a bit of errands...no matter the occasion...opt for looking put together...this outfit is just as easy to put on as a plain ole pair of jeans and a t-shirt...but you will be looking oh so chic...

still thinking about giving a mix of patterns a try?  how about an array of subdued colors...still gets your point across...but in a subtle kind of way...add in some chunky accessories...and your look speaks volumes without you saying a word...

put together: simple tribal mixture

how fabulous does tory burch look while globe-trotting on her southeast asian vacation?  while tribal prints are fairly easy to find these days...i am loving the mixture of patterns & colors...why wear boring khaki shorts & a tee...when you can be fashion forward & chic...

put together: ladylike...

while perusing my april issue of harper's bazaar...in between sips of java...i come to this absolute beauty...completely not sure if this "had me at hello" or just a very "put together" outfit...i couldn't decide which category to place it under...

but then i thought...who cares about the category? because this outfit is "right" on so many levels...and yes...i know it is green...my obsession...but it is more then that...so fifties inspired...i can hear my mom's voice telling me how i was born in the wrong era... =)

beyond the green...beyond the perfection of the dress...and the handbag...and the shoes...even the hair! are you possibly getting that i am absolutely loving this look?

more then anything...i love how ladylike one can look...with very few pieces...

put together: simply fabulous...

today i received my march issue of self magazine...as i dropped it off on my counter along with all other junk mail, newspaper inserts, bills and such...the back cover caught my eye...an ad for banana republic...

there have been times that people have said to me...in different events...how hard it is to look put together...of course i strongly disagree...as is evident in this pic...

if you dissect the outfit...it is pretty simple...but really well put together...

put together: three color combo...

when it comes to getting enveloped in color...two stores always stand out for me...trina turk & j crew...i will walk in and literally smile at all the color surrounding me...

and one of THE best color combinations...is orange, pink & green...so when i saw this ad...i wasn't surprised that it was j crew...i mean...they know how to work color in the most delicious ways...no?

and is this not the easiest outfit to put together? what would your three color combo be?

put together: stripes and plaids...

all you need is a little bit of stars...and you'd be set for the 4th of july...

um...just kidding...i don't think anyone needs to dress that exact to a holiday...but...wow...would you look at the gorgeous array of mixing patterns?? just makes my heart melt...of course the model is just as gorgeous...but it was the outfit that caught my eye...at first...no really...

i realize this may be a bit too much layering for most men...but you have to admit...he is looking pretty darn put together...wouldn't you say?

so men...is this a look you would try? and ladies...is this something your man would wear?

put together: summer's perfect hues...

to say that our weather here in the san francisco bay area has been doing anything but cooperating with what month we are in...well...would be the understatement of the year...so alas...i have been enjoying spring/summer weather through my fashion magazines...the beautiful summer hues make me yearn for the sun...that much more...

while perusing through the june issue of ladie's home journal...i came across these beautiful pics of the lovely cat deeley...showing off perfectly how summer hues should be worn...doesn't she look fabulous? and how effortless these looks are...

now if i could just get the sun to cooperate...it's june for goodness sake...and we are looking at another week of rain, hail, thunderstorms...and yes...it will be with us all weekend long...so i guess my nose will be buried in more fashion magazines...taunting me with the beautiful spring/summer looks...that i just can't wear...at least not yet...

nothing better then combining two bright colors...so chic!

men's corner: what is "put together"?

seems that there has been a lot of talk about casual wear and casual friday...in the news lately...and in my own conversations...so...really...who defines what "put together" should look like for a nice casual day at work...or to the clubhouse...or...while traveling?

the thing is...when someone doesn't know you...hasn't met you...the first impression is mostly based on what you are wearing...and whether you think that is shallow...or that you "just don't care"...is entirely up to you...but...i can clearly give examples of people being treated differently by the way they were dressed...

want an upgrade at the airport? dress up!
looking for that promotion at work? dress up!
want to be noticed? dress up!

"dress-up" does not mean you have to be wearing a three piece suit...as in this beautiful pic i saw in the june issue of gq magazine...tell me this man does not look sharp...and how easy can this be? if you look at the pieces separately...this is really not a hard look to pull off...but it looks SO put together...

so...step it up...you will be surprised how great YOU will feel (which is most important) and...how those around you will take notice...really!

put together: prints and stripes...

would you take a look at this fabulous outfit? i know...it is not for everybody...but...for those brave enough to try a little mixing of patterns...what can be funner then throwing in some stripes with a printed skirt? i love the mix of a casual looking top with a dressy skirt...

have you tried mixing patterns? what combinations?

put together: black & white...

there is something simple & complex...all in one...in an ensemble of black & white...and believe me...as much as i love wearing color...the combination of black & white...pulls me in...

these shots below were in the december issue of harpers bazaar...labeled as "strong solid sophistication..." i would have to agree...one of the simplest ways to look put together and ready for any occasion...
