happy new year...

while i am still a bit surprised that it is the last day of 2012...doesn't it seem like it arrived rather quickly??  i love what it represents...a new start...and while this year has been full of so many incredible moments...i am ready to see what 2013 has to offer...

wishing all of you fabulous readers...a safe and happy new years eve...may it be part sparkly...part bubbly...and part fun...

fashion resolutions 2012...

ok...i have to say...not a lot of participation this year...again...i am not sure if it is the word "resolutions" that makes many cringe...i don't necessarily love the word...but i do love what it represents...at least for me...it is a goal...a target...a new habit to form...which for me constitutes a good thing...but...i'm starting to think i'm the minority...

but for those who participated...i thank you...not only for putting it out there...because then i feel it is a step toward accountability...but also...what a great way to inspire someone else who is wanting to make a change...and by hearing yours...takes that first step...

so here are some of the fashion resolutions that some of my readers are making...in no particular order...(these were submitted via twitter, facebook, blog, email...AND i even asked some random people while i was out and about...enjoy and be inspired...

@thestyleconfess - "I need to put more dresses in my wardrobe and find a blouse or two that I love"

janice - "Get rid of things that don't make me feel GREAT!"

matt - "Replace my tennis shoes with nice casual shoes"

deedee - "Style my hair differently"

déjà pseu - "Replace my black business wear with taupe and grey (and color accents)"

rosalinda - "Know that Not every fashion trend must be purchased."

creighton - "To wear something besides Reeboks and New Balance on my feet. I've even resorted to having our HR Goddess help me choose."

thomas - "Retire my old pair of jeans for something a little bit more updated"

laurie - "Weed, weed, weed.out.the.stuff.that.i.don't.wear"

jolie - "Very little black, lots of color, more prints, more skirts with boots."

rebecca - "To get a proper bra fitting!"

sara - "My promise to myself for this year is to be on time, if not a bit early, for everything, every day! This is fairly new and so far not as successful as I'd like! I also would like to put together more elegant yet comfortable outfits for work and play!"

aren't these great? i'm thinking i may add some of these to my own list...had some fun looking over the last two years of these posts...especially my own resolutions...the first year i kept it to the letter...last year...well...i think i will reveal my thoughts on a separate post...and also let you know what my personal fashion resolutions are...

if you want to get in and add yours...just leave it in the comments...the resolution part is never too late to start...in fact...any day is a good day to start making positive changes...the key is to do it...even if it takes baby steps...

can you believe it is the last day of the year? for me...this year has seriously flown by...but...i am truly looking forward to all that 2012 has in store...

fashion resolutions 2011...

i decided to go back and see last years post on fashion resolutions...and it looks like i kept mine...right to the shoe! or should that be plural? yes...definately plural on the shoes... =)

"as for me...my fashion resolution is to really think about each purchase...and buy only what i truly love...and really to work within my own closet...shop in my closet...and rework items i have currently in a new way...and continue to buy vintage...and shoes!"

this year...many didn't want to make resolutions...not quite sure why...for me...i've always seen it more as a goal or challenge...to try something that i've wanted to...and the "resolution" somehow gives me the push to get "it" started...

so here are the lovely submissions by my fabulous readers...not to late...if you would like to participate...just add your fashion resolution to the comments...we would all love to read them...really...

tori - Im going to get dressed before noon and try to wear more grown up clothing. :)

theresa - I got the job! Resolution is YOU shopping for my wardrobe!!

peter - Expand my tie collection with more color. Are you going to help me???

victoria - My New Year resolution is to pile it on. I am going to start wearing multiple necklaces and bracelets this year. I love the look and want to wear ALL the pieces I love instead of the same old few. I might even get more holes in my ears.

teri - I've lost enough to have to buy new jeans. I don't usually wear jeans but I do know. Lol. They look good with all my dusters. Yippy.

dana - I'm actually making a bunch. I want to try a lot of new styles, and I'm most excited for the resolution to stop worrying if everything makes me look fat. Hello, I know how to dress for my body!

charles - I'm finally going to let you invade my closet. Take out what YOU say doesn't work - and then we go shopping.

stacy - I'm going to replace my dingy white T's. It's TIME! Bleach can only do so much :)

crystal-marie - Get rid of clothes that do not fit. I've lost a lot of weight and am holding onto clothes that are too big.

lisa - What a great question! Mine is to update my pants wardrobe ;-)

mike - Get rid of those shoes you dispise!

too funny...i enjoyed reading these...and as always...i'm here to help...in any way i can...

my resolution is to REALLY clean out my closet...yes...even i get lazy...get rid of the items that i know i won't be wearing...continue with my resolution from last year...because...i tell you...when you buy what you truly love...not just what is "a good deal" or "it'll do"...it makes a huge difference in the morning...when you are getting ready...trust me! and...i could use a few more vintage pieces...and shoes...

the last day of 2010...

well here we are...the last day of 2010...and the last day of yet another decade...phew...time sure does fly...and my year ended with a "stylish blogger award" which i am SO excited about...and will write more about it next week...

this is the time of year...that most...are thinking back on the year...some are kissing it good-bye...others...well...just see it as another day...no big change...

for me...it is a time to think about what was done...the wonderful memories made...the new friends met...some friends from long ago...re-acquainted...and those that have remained steadfast in my life...for those...i am ever grateful...

and as a fashion consultant...it is also time to think about one of my favorite questions this time of year...what is your new year's "fashion" resolution? this is something that i will share later once i have some submissions...so tell me what your "new" addition will be this coming year...

will it be to wear more color? less black? more black? a new lisptick color? a full fashion over-haul? whatever "yours" will be...please share...it just might inspire others to take a step out of the comfortable...the mundane...and try something new...

but mostly today...i want to thank all my faithful readers...you have inspired me to keep writing about something i am so passionate about...thank you for your encouragement...your comments along the way...your emails...

get your sparkle on...

...for new year's eve...

are you getting excited for the end of the year...and all the celebration that it entails? i am...and one thing that i truly enjoy...especially this time of year...is the sequins...or sparkle...or shimmer...truth be told...i enjoy it anytime of year...but especially during the holiday season...

i have clients asking me all the time if it is still on trend...and i say...yes! still very strong...although i also think that a little sparkle is always a necessity...

so for this new year's eve...whether you are going all out to a big celebration...or staying in with a few close friends...get your sparkle on...it could be in a luscious tank...a sparkly scarf...bling on shoes...or full out sequined dress...

i'm thinking my sparkle will be in my shoes...how about you?
