my very dear friend...and business partner with the savvy chic event...adena...share the same birth day...so every year...we pick a day to celebrate...this year...with both of our busy schedules...we didn't get to celebrate until 3 weeks after our birthday...which is kind of nice...just stretches out the birthday celebrations...

and every year...we celebrate at the same place...and this year was no different...

of course...we got a laugh out of the fact that we got each other the same card...i don't even think that surprised us...



but had to take a picture...



we always celebrate at the same spot...because we start our celebrations with fabulous pomegranate martinis...with a splash of champagne...don't they look festive?

well...the day is finally arriving...big may opening day for the savvy chic boutique in burlingame...i have to admit...i am always excited about opening up those huge fifty pound boxes...to see what each boutique decided to send us...this show...i think i have my longest wish list yet...

so what is the savvy chic event? basically...we are a pop-up boutique that opens up about every six weeks...with all new merchandise from boutiques around the u.s. - and we give it to you at 40-50% off...how fabulous is that...right?

as i was in the boutique yesterday...setting up for our big "spring fling" sample sale...i caught myself smiling as i was unpacking all the lovely silk scarves we have...just look at all these fun prints!

birthday surprise...

so one of the great things about being owner of "the savvy chic event" boutique...is that i get to see all the inventory when it first comes in...and one of the bad things about being owner of "the savvy chic event"...is that i get to see all the inventory when it first comes in...that being said...there is only so much i can dream about keeping for myself...i mean...the idea is to "sell" the items...not keep them for myself...

so for our first event...i have to say...we had an incredible shipment of jewelry...some alexis bittar...kenneth jay lane...just baubles extraordinaire...and i of course...was in heaven...trying everything on...imagining it with my wardrobe...blah blah blah...but there was one pair of earrings that really caught my eye...and i told myself...that if no one bought them...then i would know they were meant for me...

well the show ended...and they didn't sell...but i knew we would have some of this jewelry for our next event...so i decided to hold off in purchasing them for myself...adena (my business partner & fabulous friend) & i packed away the jewelry...still oohing over all the pieces...

meanwhile...during this whole time period...what do i spot in the november issue of lucky magazine? my earrings! well...mine in my head... =) now i really knew that i would need to be the proud owner of those gorgeous earrings...the caption in the spread was "vintage 20's-inspired glitz that channels a luxe, insanely feminine era"...uh...yeah...say no more...they are mine...can you guess which ones were mine from the scanned pic below?

so...besides adena being my business partner & fabulous friend...we share the same birthday...yep...we do...so today we exchanged birthday gifts...one day early...and yes...when i opened up my little box...i squealed with delight...she told me that while we were packing...when i looked away...she grabbed them and stuck them in her pocket...sneaky little thing... =)

i think mine are much prettier then the ones in the lucky spread...those were in black...mine have a touch of my favorite color...green...aren't they divine?

the luxury that is...cashmere...

one of the fun parts of my job...is trying on...or trying out lots of different items...clothes, shoes..etc...in our current "savvy chic event" we have a fabulous selection of cashmere...so today...when there were no customers in the boutique...i spent some time trying on lots of cashmere...ahhh...the luxury that is...cashmere...

personally...i do not think one cashmere sweater in your closet is quite enough...i think...one should have several...in various colors as well as styles...i mean...really...so many choices...why stop at one? i say...have turtlenecks, cardigans, v-neck & even a wrap or two...

cashmere truly can be found at many price points...but if you are looking for quality that will last...be prepared to spend a little bit of money...the higher the ply...the warmer the sweater...and this will most likely be more expensive...

and if you are currently in need of some cashmere...and you are in the vicinity of burlingame, ca...i highly suggest coming in to "the savvy chic event" we've got lots of colors...and lots of styles...i already have one...maybe two picked out for myself...and they are all 40% off!
