feather boas & fabulousness...

you know those days where all you want to do is get home...crawl in your comfy pj's...and call it a day?  i had such a day...today...not feeling all that well...i couldn't wait to get home...but i had my monthly networking group that i meet with...with a meeting...tonite!  i forced myself to go...telling myself that it would be over soon...and we were discussing business plans...so i wanted to be there...hopefully to spark some new ideas...and get rejuvenated...

as i walk in...the first thing i notice are these adorable plates on the conference table...of course the word "fabulous" jumped out at me...but it didn't register...

i then saw...matching napkins...and i'm thinking...we are getting kinda fancy here...for our monthly monday nite networking group...

my eyes then saw a rounder of lovely cupcakes...i thought to myself...this is going to be an ok meeting...

and then i turned towards the chair...to plop my handbag down...and on the top of the chair is a lovely & wild feather boa...it wasn't till then that it hit me...we are celebrating my birthday!  what a great lead in to talking about business plans...needless to say...although i wasn't feeling well...i was really glad i showed up...these gals have been my support...my sounding board...my friends...for many many years...and how well do they know me??

all the way down to the lovely cocktail napkins they had for me...i'm thinking they just want me to invite them over for cocktails...what do you think?

thank you eileen, kerry, rhonda, virginia & lois for such a lovely surprise...love you all!  thank you for making me feel so special...and to aimee & karen...i know you were there in spirit!

big celebration in the city...

saturday evening...four of my closest friends...surprised me with...well...a nite i will not forget...all i knew up until the moment the event started...was that i needed to be ready by 7:30pm...what i realized in the weeks leading up to this big celebration...is that while i love surprises...i love them when i have an idea of what is going on...THIS...drove me crazy...but they all kept their lips sealed...

at 7:30 pm...i walked out of my home...to see a stretch limo parked outside my door...here we are...getting ready to start our fun nite...i was excited to wear my vintage black sequined top (circa 80's) for the very first time...as i was saving it for a special occasion...this was that special occasion...although the pics don't show it...i wore it with my blue/black animal print jeans...and suede ankle booties...(this was my 2nd attempt in 2 months to wear heels...due to my pulled tendons)...i think i did ok in the walking department...all for fashion...right?

inside the limo...this was chilling...oh my heart is happy... =) courtesy of one of my girlfriend's hubby...thanks denny!

after a lovely 30 minute drive...enjoying much laughter and bubbly...we arrived at one of my favorite restaurants...if you ever have the chance while in san francisco...i highly recommend it...great food...great ambiance...

although we all cleared our plates...we still needed to make room for dessert...after all...birthdays come around but once a year...

we then headed back in the limo...only to arrive at "top of the mark" - sensational view of the city...i just wished i could have danced...but gimpy me...had to sit out...

as if this nite was not perfect enough...while i was spoiled rotten to the core...once back in the limo...i had lovely gifts awaiting me...i had to laugh at the cards...do my gal pals know me well...or what??  all fashion related...

the bottom card shown in the above pic...even had inserts for me...just in case i felt like accessorizing the card differently...gotta love it...

a nice new carry case for my phone and essentials by michael kors...in my favorite color...green!  

tickets to an upcoming keiko matsui concert...cannot wait!

a cd of french/latin jass music...to be played while perusing my new book...are you ready for this??  a leather bound gorgeous book on christian louboutin...with gold embossed pages...the pics are oh so spectacular...i may have to share some in an upcoming post...

and a lovely plaque for my inspiration wall...with one of my favorite quotes...

and i'm still basking in all the love i felt...saturday nite...by some of the most incredible friends a girl can have...thank you from the bottom of my heart...adena, lillie, lorena & margaret...i love you to pieces!

same day...same drink...same card...

my very dear friend...and business partner with the savvy chic event...adena...share the same birth day...so every year...we pick a day to celebrate...this year...with both of our busy schedules...we didn't get to celebrate until 3 weeks after our birthday...which is kind of nice...just stretches out the birthday celebrations...

and every year...we celebrate at the same place...and this year was no different...

of course...we got a laugh out of the fact that we got each other the same card...i don't even think that surprised us...



but had to take a picture...



we always celebrate at the same spot...because we start our celebrations with fabulous pomegranate martinis...with a splash of champagne...don't they look festive?

birthdays & tiaras...

november is my birthday month...and i make it a point to celebrate all month...with time-off for thanksgiving...as my actual day is slowly approaching (sunday) i've already had some fun birthday adventure...

last nite was no exception...about every three months or so...a group of high school friends get together to catch up with each other...some of these wonderful friends i have known since grade school...so we are talking 30 and 40 years...

it just so happens that three of my friends and i have our birthdays within a week of each other...so last nite...we received a delish birthday cake...and our very own tiaras...and of course...the beautiful singing of about 30 friends...

can't wait for the next celebration...

birthday surprise...

so one of the great things about being owner of "the savvy chic event" boutique...is that i get to see all the inventory when it first comes in...and one of the bad things about being owner of "the savvy chic event"...is that i get to see all the inventory when it first comes in...that being said...there is only so much i can dream about keeping for myself...i mean...the idea is to "sell" the items...not keep them for myself...

so for our first event...i have to say...we had an incredible shipment of jewelry...some alexis bittar...kenneth jay lane...just baubles extraordinaire...and i of course...was in heaven...trying everything on...imagining it with my wardrobe...blah blah blah...but there was one pair of earrings that really caught my eye...and i told myself...that if no one bought them...then i would know they were meant for me...

well the show ended...and they didn't sell...but i knew we would have some of this jewelry for our next event...so i decided to hold off in purchasing them for myself...adena (my business partner & fabulous friend) & i packed away the jewelry...still oohing over all the pieces...

meanwhile...during this whole time period...what do i spot in the november issue of lucky magazine? my earrings! well...mine in my head... =) now i really knew that i would need to be the proud owner of those gorgeous earrings...the caption in the spread was "vintage 20's-inspired glitz that channels a luxe, insanely feminine era"...uh...yeah...say no more...they are mine...can you guess which ones were mine from the scanned pic below?

so...besides adena being my business partner & fabulous friend...we share the same birthday...yep...we do...so today we exchanged birthday gifts...one day early...and yes...when i opened up my little box...i squealed with delight...she told me that while we were packing...when i looked away...she grabbed them and stuck them in her pocket...sneaky little thing... =)

i think mine are much prettier then the ones in the lucky spread...those were in black...mine have a touch of my favorite color...green...aren't they divine?

today...my birthday...i thought i would share with you what i got myself...doesn't everyone buy themselves a birthday gift??

so...a few weeks ago...i went to see one of my favorite vintage jewelry collectors...
i mean...every girl needs a new something in baubles...right? she never disappoints...barbara has THE best collection ever...she has no website...no store (well she does have some pieces in a local antique shop)...mostly she does local faires...otherwise i would share her with all of you...my faithful readers...

the dilemma was...not that i wouldn't find anything...but that i would find too much...my justification...i knew that my birthday was coming up...

i found this piece first...loved the ruby red...loved the pearls...



then...my eyes feasted on this delicious piece (with earrings)



i thought to myself...should i buy both?? do i really need both?? it is my birthday...so i decided...they would look great together...doesn't that make it like buying one piece?
