the wide leg trouser...

the beautiful katharine hepburn truly knew how to wear men inspired clothing...and still look incredibly feminine and sexy...and she could pull off the wide leg trouser like no other...as i mentioned way back in august...i am still looking for a perfect new pair of wide leg trousers...such as these...but maybe at a tad bit of a lower price tag... =) the wide leg trouser truly is one of my favorite looks...it is comfortable...gives freedom of movement...and best of all...looks oh so glamourous...

when wearing wide leg trousers...try to keep your top fitted...to balance off the bulk and width on the bottom...

i prefer my wide leg trousers with cuffs...but whether they are cuffed or not...make sure that they are long...the wide leg trouser does not look good when too short...

if possible - stick to a flat front...pleats look good on very few...just sayin...

they look great in black, white, camel, grey or even pinstripe...try a pair...they are really quite fabulous...

experimenting with menswear...

who doesn't love clothing inspired by a guy's closet? pantsuits, pinstripes, strong shoulders...the key...of course...is not to look too masculine...we women need to pull out our arsenal when wearing men "inspired" clothing...

i absolutely love this picture of jessica alba...although i think she oozes sexiness in whatever she wears =) for some of us...it doesn't come that easy...so how can you keep the look feminine?

easy easy...try pairing your men inspired trousers with a silky blouse...if you are going out on the town...a little plunging neckline does the trick...you've got the heels...so use them...and add some accessories...whether it is your grandmothers pearls...or a statement necklace you are loving...

and of course...fit fit fit...is always important...your men inspired pieces should fit as curve hugging silhouettes...

with all this style arsenal at your fingertips...you are sure to add a feminine touch to a certain toughness...

shirts...

at times, the personalities of a white shirt seem virtually infinite...a classic cotton can look crisp and tailored...change the fabric to silk or sheer organza...and the look is instantly dressier...sexier...

menswear-inspired fashion at its most feminine...

exagerate the tailoring - more seams, dropped shoulders, a playful collar...and even classic cotton can become jazzy and brash...take away the collar altogether and add a tiny stripe...and the shirt takes on a simpler, quieter, more ascetic look...

loose shirts can be worn over an undershirt or camisole...in lieu of a jacket...untucked, they can hide a bulky waistline...or give modesty and shelter from the sun to a skimpy bathing suit...

tucked in or worn under a jacket...they take a back seat to the perfect suit...

when is a shirt not a shirt?

when it's too pretty or feminine to betray much of its historical roots as men's clothing...in other words...when it's a blouse...
