suits...

a suit is a big investment..and a major clue to your personality and life style...do you need the sculptured tailoring of a power suit to underline your authority? or would you be happier in a suit that is less about control than it is about comfort and subtlety of line? maybe you prefer a more traditionally feminine knit suit...or a fitted...dressy mixed suit with components you can really match with other parts of your wardrobe...

the ultimate question...which suit suits your style?

there was a time back in my corporate america days...that i literally wore a suit every day...although that isn't my lifestyle now...i kept alot of my suits...and when occasion calls for it...i absolutely love donning my suits...

how about you? is it something you incorporate into your wardrobe?

men's corner: it's official - new addition...

last week the announcement was that fabulous finds had opened up a consignment store...the response has been tremendous...both from shoppers...and those that have items to consign...

today...i am happy to announce an addition to the fabulous finds consignment boutique...we now have a "men's corner"

so what does that mean? now the men can shop (or the wives and girlfriends)...and for the local readers...if you are in the process of cleaning out those closets and have some great "gently used" items...why not consign them? get some extra $$ in your pockets...if you've got items...please email me at fabulous.finds@yahoo.com

we've already got a few items in the men's corner...take a peak... =)

keep checking back - items are added weekly...sometimes daily...

the perfect blazer...

instant respectability...maybe it's the crisp line of the well-sewn collar...or the gentle bend of a sleeve...maybe it's the essential masculinity of even the most feminine jacket or blazer that gives us that feeling of control...

the double-breasted blazer has its roots in naval history...the navy blazer is a stylized version of the british royal navy's "reefer" jacket and was invented by the captain of h.m.s. blazer to be worn by his crew on the eve of the coronation of queen victoria...

we use the more casual single-breasted version - an american cousin of the jacket worn by english university boating and cricket clubs...to dress up jeans or maintain the formality of a pair of trousers...

jackets build up our assets and hide our flaws...shoulder pads and fitted styles give shape...bulky "boyfriend" cuts allow us to be whatever we want inside their boxy silhouette...

as for style...it depends on yours...do you want the drama of a long, fitted hacking jacket? the easy...casual feel of a blazer? the perfect line of an attention-getting couture cut? is it form-fitting and short for saturday nites?

a well-cut jacket is the essential wardrobe item...and it should have a long and active life...spend the time and the money to get what works for you and your wardrobe...if you can get only one suit...choose style over trendiness...pick a color that can work with other pieces in your closet...look for quality fabric (preferably one that's seasonless)...and something so good you can't imagine ever loaning it...even to your best friend...

put together: in black & white...

nothing is more classic & beautiful to me...then a simple black & white outfit...this beautifully put together ensemble was in one of the nordstrom catalogs...all in st. john...so simple...yet so elegant...all at the same time...

the scanned page doesn't do the outfit justice...this is such an easy outfit to re-create...and is an excellent "go-to" when you are not quite sure what to wear...

so among all that black...add some white for a crisp and new look...
